Amir Clayton Powell
A C Powell is a visionary who can quickly identify and develop emerging markets. In building the Center for the Study of Urban Life [CSUL] at the Columbus Urban League in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Powell displayed great leadership abilities coupled with keen business acumen. On his watch, the CSUL’s operating budget grew from under $200K to well over $500K. In 2001, Mr. Powell took the same entrepreneurial skills used to erect the CSUL and established SunChild Enterprises Inc., a consulting firm advising nonprofit organizations and SME’s in Central Ohio. SunChild’s successes soon lead to the acquisition of Owners Advocacy Cooperative [OAC], an Ohio limited liability company engaged in the business of recovering unclaimed funds. In a merger which combined a SunChild subsidiary with OAC, Amir Clayton Powell became the Administrative Manager of the new SunChild OAC recovery firm. Gross revenues exploded under Powell’s leadership. Mr. Powell subsequently organized A C Powell & Co. as a vehicle by which to develop other business ventures.
Powell is a graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, with a degree in Politics, Philosophy & Economics as well as Capital University Law School with a double concentration in Publicly-Held Companies and Small Business Entities. Because of his academic and oral advocacy achievements during law school, Mr. Powell earned induction into two national legal honorary societies, the Order of the Curia and the Order of the Barristers. Named for Adam Clayton Powell Jr., A C Powell, like his namesake, is a proud member of the renowned Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Amir Clayton Powell resides with his wife and children in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, DC.
