Rev. Dr. Ernest L. Vermont

 

Ernest L. Vermont is an ordained clergyman with 33 years of ministry service. He has served churches in Alaska, Nevada, New York and New Jersey. He is also a career Army Chaplain having served the Nation for over 24 years including tours in Turkey and Iraq. He has served the Army admirably in many capacities.

Twice he held the position of an “Executive Pastor.”

 

As an Executive Pastor over the entire religious support program for Fort Meade, MD, the Army’s fourth largest installation, he supervised financial and operational logistics for six congregations serving 2500+ people. The scope of responsibility was broad and included strategic planning, marketing, public relations, the supervision of military and civilian staff, and the development and management of budgets totaling $800,000 for both appropriated and non-appropriated money. He was instrumental in obtaining a 93% satisfaction rating from all chapel constituencies utilizing the Baldridge Business Model.

 

His previous military assignments include: Ft. Meade, MD as the Protestant Pastor of the Historic Main Post Chapel, Director of the Family Life Counseling Center, Chaplain Resource Manager and a Chaplain with a Military Intelligence unit; Garrison Chaplain and Protestant Pastor at Aberdeen Proving Ground; 61st Ordnance Brigade Chaplain at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Chaplain Clinician (In- patient Drug/Alcohol Chaplain) at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Ft. Gordon, GA; Clinical Pastoral Education Resident, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC; Deputy Staff Chaplain, 415th Base Support Battalion, Kaiserslautern, Germany; Battalion Chaplain, 1-27 Field Artillery (MLRS), Babenhausen, Germany; Battalion Chaplain, 75th Support Battalion (194th Separate Armored Brigade), Ft. Knox, KY; Group Chaplain, 528th Artillery Group, Republic of Turkey; and as Division Artillery Chaplain for the 10th Mountain Division, Ft. Drum, NY.

 

He is a graduate of the Chaplain Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the United States Army Combined Arms and Service Staff School, the Army Command and General Staff College and the Clinical Pastoral Education Resident Course at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  He holds a 7R Hospital Ministry) Army Skill Identifier.  He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Barrington College, Barrington, Rhode Island, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.
